My name is Jerome Perera, and I am the principal clinical psychologist at Wandering Minds Psychology. As a telehealth psychologist, I provide psychological services to adults based in most parts of the world using phone and video platforms.
I am comfortable working with clients from diverse backgrounds and I understand that each life brings with it a complexity of circumstances and experiences that may compromise a person’s mental health. I work from a person centred approach and focus on relationship building with unconditional positive regard. Having lived in several countries and travelled widely means that I am able to relate to people from a diversity of backgrounds.
My experiences living and travelling around the world, and participating in a variety of sports, musical activities, gaming, and other hobbies means that my therapeutic style is informed by a diverse array of life experiences.
I believe in an eclectic approach, drawing on variety of ideas in order to individually tailor my approach to each client. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy along with techniques from Motivational Interviewing to Mindfulness to help clients develop an understanding of themselves and the patterns of difficulties that undermine their wellbeing.
Over the course of my career, I have derived a deep sense of satisfaction from creating a safe and non-judgemental space where a person may reflect and understand their thoughts, relationships, and decisions as they work collaboratively to achieve goals of mental health and well-being.
